Environmental enrichment for cats is important.
We often overlook how cats use space and resources to feel safe and to prevent conflict with other animals and people. Changes to the environment can create conflict between cats or peace and tranquility. The fabric you choose can make your cat scratch on your furniture or prevent it. Feline behavior problems, such as play-aggression and play biting, can be reduced when rearrangements to furniture, cat trees, cat beds, litter boxes, scratching posts, and food and water bowls are made.

When scheduling a consult on environmental enrichment for your cat, Alana will request video clips of your home or the rooms you want to change, as well as your cat’s behavioral history..
In the barn, Alana advised us on vertical surfaces, cat trees, litter box positioning, privacy areas and indoor enclosures which allow the cats to be happy and keep a comfortable distance from each other. In the house, we went over different rooms and furniture arrangements, as well as litter boxes and water placement to create comfortable cat areas. When needed, with cat changes and other life events, we revisit these areas and rearrange them as appropriate!
